Obituary

Lou Anne Wimer, 88, of Old Route 33 Horner passed away on Sunday, February 2, 2020 in her daughter’s home in Bridgeport following a brief illness. She was born in Richwood, WV on April 25, 1931: daughter of the late Arch J. Thompson and Carolyn Opal (Stowers) Thompson. On December 24, 1952, she married James Morgan Wimer, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2011.

Mrs. Wimer is survived by two loving daughters: Kathy Whelan and husband George of Weston and Janet Potter and husband Freddie of Bridgeport, three grandchildren: Michael Potter and wife Monica and David Potter and companion Crystal Hollandsworth both of Clarksburg and Sarah Potter of Bridgeport and five great-grandchildren: Cayden Knotts, Wyatt Potter, Avery Potter, Landon Potter and Roman Potter and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents and husband James, Lou Anne was preceded in death by two brothers: Robert and Lowell Thompson and one sister: Sharon Smith. In addition to her family, Mrs. Wimer will be missed by her special feline friend: Princess.

Mrs. Wimer retired from the Lewis County Health Department. She was a graduate of Walkersville High School with the class of 1948. Lou Anne enjoyed crocheting and cooking. She loved keeping in touch with her family and friends and especially lunching with her former co-workers. Her family says she just loved to get out.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 2:00 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Rick Wyatt officiating. Interment will follow services in the Lewis County Memorial Gardens of Weston, WV. On-line condolences and life stories in memory of Lou Anne may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
