Obituary for Lash Vincent "Sonny" Metz
Lash “Sonny” Vincent Metz, 68, of Weston, passed away on Thursday May 20th, 2021 at his residence. He was born on February 19th, 1953 to the late Lash Junior Metz and Ethel Gay (Burkhammer) Metz. Sonny was united in marriage on November 22nd, 1980 to Hazel (Foster) Metz of Weston.
Cherishing memories of Sonny are 1 daughter: Tina May, 4 sons: Joseph Edward (Amanda), Mark Anthony (Anisha), Denzil Eugene and Lash “Little Sonny” Metz (Lisa), 15 grandchildren: Adam, Alexandria, Michelle, Elizabeth, MaryAnne, Dillan, Anthony, Dakota, Zethan, MaKeena, Megan, Madison, Kayla, Ricky, Kyle, 9 great-grandchildren: Addison, Sarah, Aulbrey, Kaleb, Kaysen, Khloe, Kynzlee, Kace, Kodi, 1 brother: Tim Metz (Judy) of Weston, 2 sisters: Darlene White and Mary Stump (Bill) both of Weston, several nieces and nephews and one very special dog BoBo who went everywhere with him.
In addition to his parents, Sonny was preceded in death by 3 brothers: Thomas Metz, Pat Metz and Mike Metz and 2 sisters: Nancy Harris and Charlotte Byrd.
Sonny was a retired bus driver for the Lewis County Board of Education. He attended the Murphy’s Creek Baptist Church. In his younger years, Sonny was known for drag racing cars at El Dora Race Track in Fairmont. He enjoyed hunting and collecting 1:24 and 1:18 model cars.
Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N Main Avenue Weston, WV on Sunday, May 23rd, 2021 from 1:00-3:00pm with the funeral service beginning at 3:00pm from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wease Day officiating.
