Obituary for Larry Stanton Blake

Larry Stanton Blake, 72, of Horner, passed away on Saturday, October 14, 2023, in the comfort of his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Orlando, WV on February 19, 1951, son of the late Matthew Blake and Kathline (Thayer) Rogers. Larry was united in marriage, to his wife of 44 years, Vicki (Lattea) Blake, on June 9, 1979, who survives.

Cherishing the life of Larry are his wife, Vicki, two sons, Mitchell Blake and companion Madonna of Horner and Joshua Blake of Weston, brother, Thomas Blake and wife Edie of Parkersburg, 3 sisters, Linda Strader of Ohio, Helen Walden of Elkins, and Karen Cutright and husband Doyle of Buckhannon, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Larry was preceded in death by 2 brothers, his twin brother, Jerry Blake, and Argil Blake, and sister, Georgie Cutright.

Larry served in the United States Army for two years as a mechanic. Following being in the service, Larry worked in construction with Steve Peters for several years then cut right-of- ways for Penn Line. He loved fishing and hunting with his son, Mitchell, and his friends and nephews. Larry also enjoyed playing cards and dominoes.

Larry’s request for cremation has been honored at Hardman Cremation Services On-site Crematory of Weston. A Celebration of Life will be held for family and friends at a later date.
