Obituary for Kathleen Rhodora "Katy" Bennett

Kathleen R “Katy” Curtis Bennett, 95, former long time resident of Weston passed away on Friday, April 23rd, 2021 at White Oaks Manor in York, SC. She was residing with her daughter and son-in-law in York, SC. Katy was born on July 4th, 1925 in Freemansburg, Lewis County to the late Okey B. and Fern Curtis. On December 23rd, 1942 she was united in marriage to Homer L. Bennett who preceded her in death on August 18th, 2009. They were married for 67 years and were high school sweethearts.

Surviving are her daughter Judith Montgomery and husband Stephen of York, SC, daughter-in-law Carolyn Bennett, grandson Brian Bennett and wife Leslie, granddaughters Carri Madison and husband John, Kelli Ivory and husband Jeffrey, Tracy Jones and husband Christopher, great grandchildren Brianna, Kaitlin, and Josie Bennett, Lily Madison, Matthew and Allison Ivory, Isabella, Olivia, Amelia, Julianna, Isaac and Aaron Jones, one sister Joan Bennett of Waverly, OH, one brother Robert Curtis of Cormwell, CT, and several nieces and nephews.

Katy was preceded in death by two infant sons, Tad Allen and Michael Lee Bennett, son Larry Lee Bennett, grandson Michael Tad Bennett, one sister Janet Burnside and one brother Harold Curtis.

Katy was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church and in earlier years was active in several church activities. She was a member of the Theresa Snaith Hospital Auxiliary. Katy was a cancer survivor since 1975 and worked with Reach to Recovery for over 20 years. She was a member and past president of the Weston Garden Club. She loved attending the State Convention at The Greenbrier. Katy was also a member of Eastern Star.

She was happiest when she had all her family in her home. She loved working in her flowers and yard. She worked with her husband Homer and son Larry in their business, Bennett Home and Auto until they retired. She loved her little poodle “Muffin” of 17 years. Katy was kind hearted and loved her family dearly, she will be missed.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Wednesday, April 28th, 2021 from 11:00AM-1:00PM with the funeral service starting at 1:00PM from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Bruce Macbeth officiating.
