Obituary for Joseph Michael "Joe" Paugh
Joseph “Joe” Michael Paugh, 70, of Weston went home to be with his Lord and Savior on Sunday, October 10th, 2021. He was born on June 26th, 1951 in Weston, son of the late Charles “Gene” Paugh and Sarah C. (Matthews) Paugh. Joe was united in marriage on July 8th, 1972 to Judy C. (Gum) Paugh, who survives.
Cherishing Joe’s life are 2 daughters: Carolyn Pittman and boyfriend Chad Bowen of Weston and Joanna Johnson and husband Ray of Weston, 6 grandchildren: Jennifer Pittman, Meghan Pittman, Leanne Pittman, Adam Pittman, Connar Johnson and Alexis Johnson, 1 sister: Cathy Fisher and husband Mike of Weston and several nieces and nephews and great and great-great nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Joe was preceded in death by one grandson Benjamin Pittman and 2 brothers: Chris and Charles M. Paugh.
Joe was a graduate of Lewis County High School in 1969. He furthered his education and graduated in 1971 from Nashville Diesel Mechanic School. Joe retired from the WV State Road as a Heavy Equipment Mechanic with 35 years of service. He was a member of the Murphy Creek Baptist Church and served as the Deacon and Assistant Sunday School Teacher as well as many other jobs inside the church. Joe also served many years in the Pricetown Volunteer Fire Department. After retiring, Joe’s life never slowed down as he loved to serve for his community in any way he could. He had many side jobs, working for Worldwide Equipment, Lynn Wolfe Paving and Hardman Family Funeral Home. Joe had a passion for singing. He sang in the Mountaineer Gospel Quartet and then the group BOLD for 40+ years. As we all know Joe is now singing with the angels and will be missed by all who knew and loved him.
Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue, Weston WV on Tuesday, October 19th, 2021 from 5-7pm. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 20th, 2021 at Murphy Creek Baptist Church in Weston at 12:00pm with Pastor Wease Day officiating.
