James Anthony Rohrbough, 96, of Weston, WV died on Friday, March 10th, 2023 in the comfort of his home surrounded by family and friends. He was born in Lewis County on June 19, 1926: son of the late Elbert Lee and Lula Grace (McKinley) Rohrbough. On August 18th, 1951, he married his wife of 72 years, Shelby Jean (Knight) Rohrbough, who survives.
Cherishing James’s life are his wife, Shelby, three living children: Allisa Darlene Rohrbough Sisley and husband Richard, Brian Wayne Rohrbough, and Bruce Todd Rohrbough and companion: Sarah Marsh, six grandchildren: James Anthony”Tony” Rohrbough, III, Todd Steven Rohrbough, Crista Nicole Ables, Tiffany Michelle Fultineer, Briahna Hope Rohrbough and Bruce Todd “Bear” Rohrbough, Jr. and several great grandchildren and nieces and nephews. He was the third child into a family of fourteen and his memory is also cherished by six surviving siblings: Dolpha Donald Rohrbough, Rex David Rohrbough and wife Linda, Pricilla Bonny Rohrbough Hefner and Phyllis Carol Rohrbough Grove all of Weston and John Ernest Rohrbough and wife Lucille and Threca Isabelle Rohrbough Foster both of Jane Lew.
In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by his first born son: James Anthony Rohrbough, Jr and seven siblings: Calvin Lee Rohrbough, Elbert Roland Rohrbough, Ruhama Effie Rohrbough Woodson, Rhoda May Rohrbough Marlow, Lulu Millicent Rohrbough Hines, Annabelle Louise Rohrbough Foster and Mary Jane Rohrbough Walker.
Mr. Rohrbough was a retired shop foreman with Grief Brothers of Weston. His hobbies included hunting, fishing, Carpentry and being outside in the fresh air. James will be remembered for his love for family and friends, being a devoted and loving husband, a wonderful father and trusted friend, a teacher of kindness and forgiveness, and a very gentle man with strong hands and a heart of gold who put the needs of others before his own needs. He loved to laugh and live life to the fullest. His family and friends will carry our love for him forever in our hearts and will all sadly miss him.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Wednesday, March 15th, 2023 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating.
