Obituary for James J. Montgomery

James J. Montgomery, 90, of Camden passed away on Monday, August 12, 2019 in the WV Veteran’s Nursing Home of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Weston on February 20, 1929: son of the late James Alvie Montgomery. James was raised by his grandparents, aunts and uncles in Shadybrook. On July 11, 1955, Mr. Montgomery married Wilma (Stout) Montgomery, who preceded him in death on October 27, 2007.
Mr. Montgomery is survived by three children: Vicky M. Bowler and husband Dan of Hartland, CT, Jamie Montgomery and Julie Montgomery both of Camden, four grandchildren: Ashley Nicole "Nikki" Hefner, Julian Chant Floyd, Lauren Marie Terrell and Nathaniel Ezra Bowler, and eight great-grandchildren: Zander Floyd, Landen Floyd, Julian Floyd, Hunter Hefner, Kamryn Hefner, Joseph Slawter, Donovan Thompson and Drevaughn Thompson. He is also survived by one brother: Henry Montgomery of Illinois.
Mr. Montgomery retired from Corhart Company of Buckhannon, WV. He was a veteran of the United States Army where he served at the Pentagon during the Korean Conflict. He attended the Churchville United Methodist Church. James was an avid hunter and fisherman and kept busy wood working. He was a life member of the NRA.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, August 18, 2019 from 1-3 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 3:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Martin Wine officiating. Interment will follow services in the Carder Cemetery of Vadis, WV. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
