Obituary for James Harry "Jimmy" Harper Jr.

James “Jimmy” Harry Harper, Jr., 67, of Weston fought the good fight and finished his race on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at his home. He was born in Weston on January 17, 1955, son of the late James Harry Harper Sr. and Reva Louise (Moneypenny) Harper.

Jimmy will be forever remembered by his brother Rick Smith (Tina) of New Cumberland; a sister Sharon K. Mick (Michael) of Weston; nephews Trent Harrison and Rob Riddle; niece Eva Hollidge; two great nephews and three great nieces.

In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in death by his brother Robert Wayne Harper and his sister Sandra Jean Harrison, as well as his maternal grandparents, William and Ida Mae Moneypenny, who raised him from toddler age.

Jimmy was Methodist by faith. He had worked as a mechanic at Davis Chrysler in Huntington and Hitt’s Garage and Body Shop in Weston.

Those who knew Jimmy knew that he loved to enjoy life. Jimmy could make you laugh with his jokes. He loved to listen to classic rock ‘n roll and dance to the music. Jimmy was a huge fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and the WVU Mountaineers and enjoyed watching them on TV. Jimmy also enjoyed going to stock car races and watching NASCAR. Jimmy’s jovial ways will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Ave., Weston, on Saturday, May 14, 2022, 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Services will begin at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Rev. Dwayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow at Peterson Cemetery in Weston.
