Obituary for James R. Gaston Sr.

James R. Gaston, Sr.,86, of Jane Lew went home to be with his Lord on Sunday, January 1st, 2023 at Seller’s Personal Care Home of Jane Lew, WV. He was born in Weston on July 20th. 1936: son of the late Stokes N. and Dorotha (Ramsburg) Gaston. On June 30th, 1955, he married Emmagene (Warner) Gaston, who preceded him in death on November 6th, 2021.

Cherishing his memory is one daughter: Terry (Mike) Small of Jane Lew, one son: James R. “Rick” (Mary Ann) Gaston, Jr. of Fairmont, three grandchildren: Jennifer (Landon) Owen of Johnson City, TN, James R. “Jarid” (Angie) Gaston of Fairmont and Christy (John) Hughes of Weston, five great grandchildren: Anderson “AJ” Owen, Adeline “Addie” Owen, Aubrey Gaston, Brittan Walker and Noah Hughes and great great grandchild: Belle Walker and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife, Emmagene, Jim was preceded in death by two brothers: William “Jack” Gaston and Buddy Gaston and an infant twin sister at birth.

Mr. Gaston was a Lewis County business man all his life. He and his wife were owners of The Specialty Shop, Gem Furniture Company, The Alleyside Restaurant and the Sale Barn all of Weston. Was also a former realtor in Lewis County and sold satellite dishes. He was also involved in the development of the Weston Arbors.

He was a member of the Lewis County Lion’s Club for many years, the Lewis County Chamber of Commerce and the Weston Moose Lodge # 1376. He is also a 50-year master mason of the Weston Lodge #10 A.F. & A. M. of WV, the Lewis County Shrine Club, Grand Chapter Royal Arch Masons of WV, Bigelow Chapter #4 of Weston and St. John’s Commandery #8 Knights Templar.

He loved the outdoors, whether hunting and fishing, or camping all over the US with his wife and kids and many camping friends, or playing cards on weekends with numerous friends in and around Lewis County.

At Jim’s request, a private graveside service will held at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew with Reverend Jim Martin officiating. He will then be laid to rest beside the love of his life, Emmagene, where they will be reunited for eternity.
