Obituary for Jackqueline "Jackie" Smith (Rastle)
Jackqueline “Jackie” Rastle Smith died May 5, 2021 at her home in Weston, WV. She was born in Lewis County, WV on September 23, 1934 to the late Margaret Droppleman Rastle and Haymond Rastle. She is survived by her daughter Dayna Smith. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother Onslow “Onnie” Rastle and her infant son Robert Eugene Smith.
Jackie graduated from Walkersville High School in 1952 and Glenville State College in 1956 with a teaching degree in Home Economics and Physical education. She taught for 27 years. Jackie was a member of St. Boniface Catholic Church and a member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Victory #379. She was active in Lewis County CEOS and Lewis County Association of Retired School Employees. Through the years Jackie volunteered with Habitat for Humanity, St. Patrick Vacation Bible School and adopting angels from the Salvation Army Angel Tree at Christmas. She enjoyed traveling, working in her flower beds, crafts, collecting snowmen and watching WVU basketball and football.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, May 10th, 2021 from 5-7 p.m. A Rosary will be recited on Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. from the funeral home chapel. A Funeral Mass will be held on Tuesday at 10:00 a.m. from St. Patrick Catholic Church of Weston with Father Gary Naegele as celebrant. Following the mass, Jackie’s wishes for cremation will be honored. Interment will be held in the family section of the Peterson Cemetery at a later date at the convenience of the family.
