Obituary for Ira Michael Hitt

Ira Michael Hitt, 75, of Weston passed away on Monday, March 30, 2020 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewis County on September 4, 1944: son of the late John W. Hitt and Virginia Viola (Sines) Hitt. On October 2, 1965, he married Sharon Kay (Posey) Hitt, who survives.

He is also survived by two daughters: Nicole M. Stasny and husband Bob of Ashtabula, OH and Kelly L. Hitt of Weston and three grandchildren: Christopher A. Stasny, Melissa D. Stasny and Stormee B. Frymier. Also surviving is one brother: John W. Hitt of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Michael was preceded in death by one brother: Thomas L. Hitt and two sisters: Patty A. Huffman and Shirley M. Badaggett. Mike was also preceded in death by his grand dog, Cigone Frymier, who died March 27, 2020.

Mr. Hitt’s family wants to thank the Veteran’s Administration Hospice, Keith Daughtery and all those who helped their family during this difficult time.

Mr. Hitt worked in the Oil Field for several years and then drove truck for West Virginia Glass Specialty Company of Weston. Michael was a veteran of the United States Army stationed in Korea. His hobbies included hunting and fishing. He also enjoyed playing cards. Mike will be missed by his many family and friends.

A private graveside service will be held on Sunday, April 5, 2020 at 1:00 p.m. from Lewis County Memorial Gardens of Weston with Hospice Chaplain Jennifer Suehs-Vassel officiating. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army. Interment will follow in the family section of the cemetery.
