Obituary for Ingeborg Elisabeth "Inge" Mann (Alt)

Ingeborg (Inge) Elisabeth (Alt) Mann, 87, of Weston passed away on Saturday, June 12th, 2021 at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on January 24th, 1934 in Ippesheim, Germany to the late Julius Wilhelm Alt and Brunhilde Alexa (Kipps) Alt. Inge was united in marriage on December 18th, 1954 to John S. Mann who preceded her in death on December 7th, 2007.

Forever cherishing Inge’s life are 6 children: Monika Weldon and husband Richard, Christine Myers and husband Rick, Michael Mann and wife Diana, David Mann and wife Donna, Susanne Lanouette and husband Ted and Stephen Mann and wife Wendy, 16 grandchildren: Jeffrey Weldon, Matthew Weldon, Christopher Weldon, Heather Marsh, Paul Jones, Katherine Myers, Jason Mann, Daniel Mann, Nicoli Mann, Shane Mann, Oliver Mann, Alissa Mann, Lauren Mann, Eric Mann, Kelly Mann, and Rachel Mann, 1 great-grandchild: River Kai Mann, and 1 brother: Dieter Alt and wife Hanne and 1 sister-in-law: Celinda Mann.

In addition to her parents and husband, Inge was preceded in death by her brother Gerhard Alt and brother-in-law Carl A. Mann.

Inge graduated high school in Furth, Germany and continued her education at the University of Maryland, obtaining her Bachelor of Science Degree in Education. She worked for the Montgomery County School Board in Maryland teaching German, Spanish and History. An avid gardener, Inge was a member of the Horticultural Society of Takoma Park, Maryland. Upon moving to Weston she worked for the Lewis County Board of Education as a substitute teacher. Inge was a member of the Boot and Saddle Club, the Geelick CEO’s Group in Lewis County, the Mountain State Association of Bed and Breakfast and the Master Gardener Association. She was a very loving and caring woman who will be missed dearly.

Inge’s wish for cremation has been honored by her family. A Memorial Service to honor her life will be held on Saturday, September 11, 2021 at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV. Fellowship time will be held from 1:00-3:00 pm with the Memorial Service beginning at 3:00 pm at the funeral home chapel with Pastor Allen Burnsworth officiating.
