Obituary for Helen Louise Newman

Helen Louise Newman, 65, entered her eternal home Thursday, September 7, 2023 following an extended illness at United Hospital Center in Bridgeport, WV. The late, Lanta D. and Mildred L. (Smarr) Radcliff welcomed Helen into their small family on May 4, 1958 and was born and raised in Gilmer County. Helen was united in marriage on July 10, 1998 to Joseph Newman, who preceded her in death on October 9, 2007.

Cherishing the many memories of Helen are her daughter, Diana Louise Busam and husband Dennis of Calhoun County, two grandchildren, Lanta Busam and Lane Busam and wife Kinley, brother, Dickie Radcliff and wife Ruth Ann of Jane Lew, two nieces, Jessica Harper and husband Daniel and Jodi Goodwin and husband Randy, and nephew, Ryan Radcliff and wife Rachelle.

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by a daughter, Crystal Michelle Jones.
Helen obtained a Master’s Degree in Psychology from Glenville State College. She loved her job of working as a counselor at Westbrooke. Helen was a member of the Mount Ernest Methodist Church in Troy, WV and loved reading her Bible and scripture with her family. Helen was a big Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed watching her Westerns, especially Gunsmoke, and her favorite Nascar driver Martin Truex, Jr. Helen had a way of enjoying life and her loving spirit will be missed.

Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston, on Tuesday, September 12, 2023 from 12 p.m.-1 p.m. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Carl Radcliff officiating. Interment will follow services at Hiney Hill Cemetery in Linn, WV. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to: Mt.
