Obituary for Harry Gene Grose

Harry Gene Grose, 88 of Weston, WV went to be with his Lord and Savior, Friday, February 18, 2022. He was in a loving home environment under Hospice Care in Jane Lew, WV. He was born in Auburn, WV on June 27, 1933 to the late Clarence and Tensy Ward Grose. On February 16, 1952, he was united in marriage to his loving wife, Genelea Adams Grose, who preceded him in death.

He is survived by two daughters, Cynthia Wade and husband Larry of Grantsville, WV and Melanie Reed and husband Gene of New Milton, WV. He is also survived by two sons, Michael Grose and wife Debbie of Berlin, WV and Timothy Grose and wife Sherry of Camden, WV. Harry is survived by 12 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Harry was preceded in death by three sisters, Edra Naomi Grose, Wanda Ruth Grose, and Oleta Mae Grose and six brothers, Russell Lawrence Grose, Emery Ray Grose, Charles Richard Grose, Roy Leon Grose, William Fredreck Grose, and David Cline Grose.

Mr. Grose has been a follower of Christ from an early age and a member of Horizens Church, where he attended on Saturdays. He also attended First Baptist Church of Weston on Sundays. Over the years, he has served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday school teacher at various churches. Harry has faithfully served as a Trustee at Fisher Baptist Camp doing carpenter work, where many of his grandchildren came to know the Lord.

His profession was a tool dresser on a spudder, meter reader, and town plant man for Hope Gas. He retired with 38 years of service. Harry was an amazing carpenter as well, using his talent to build a house, furniture, and make many smaller items to give as gifts to those he loved and appreciated. Being an avid golfer, he enjoyed being a member of the Christian Golf League. Harry was also a member of the Gilmer County Masonic Lodge #118 for 50 years.

Harry deeply loved his children and grandchildren and was always ready to lend a helping hand. Blessed with a cheery, jolly personality, he loved life and could always find a way to lift others’ spirits.

Harry truly will be missed by all who knew and loved him. Family and friends will gather for visitation at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Monday, February 21, 2022 from 11AM-2PM. The Funeral Service will begin at 2PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mark Evans officiating.
