Gary Wayne ""Toby""  Conner
Gary Wayne “Toby” Conner, 67, of 312 Broad Street Weston passed away on Wednesday, June 20, 2012 on Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston following an extended illness. He was born in Glenville on April 17, 1945: son of the late Lonnie Conner and Pearl (King) Conner Belknap Kerns. On July 30, 1974, he married Betty Lee (Young) Conner, who survives.
Also surviving are three daughters: Melody (Jack) Atchison of Weston, Lori (Randy) Fluharty of Big Springs and Mary Jamison and companion Mike Gould of Alum Bridge, one son: Clovis O. (Melissa) Ash, Jr. of Suffolk, VA and dear friend and caregiver: Jeffrey Tanley of Weston. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren: Jennifer Boggs, Brooke Atchison, Amanda Atchison, Casey Batiste, Nicole Bonner, Joshua Ash, Rachel Casada, April Briddick, Trinity Daly and Kenneth Casada, Jr. and several great grandchildren. Toby is also survived by one brother: Jimmy Kerns of Petersburg, VA, three sisters: Beverly Elliott of Weston, Jean Youngblood of Richmond, VA and Naomi Thoms of Powhatan, VA and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Mr. Conner was preceded in death by one grandson: Sean Michael Jamison, three brothers: Paul Belknap, Edward Belknap and Melvin Conner and two sisters: Manoka Smith and Nora “Polly” Jefferies.
Mr. Conner was a retired psychiatric aide with Weston State Hospital. He was a veteran of the United States Army and a member of the American Legion Post #166 of Jane Lew, WV.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, June 24, 2012 from 1-2 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Sunday at 2 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. Full military honors will be conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.
