Obituary for Frederick Terrence Nealis

Frederick T. Nealis, 74, formerly of Marietta, OH, went to his heavenly home on Monday, November 28, 2022 at the West Virginia Veterans Nursing Facility in Clarksburg, WV, where he received their respect and special Military Honors. He was born in Marietta, OH on November 12, 1948, son of the late Samuel T. and Helen Catherine (Curtis) Nealis.

Forever cherishing the memories of Fred are two children, Jason Nealis of Horner and Sarah Moore and husband Craig of Bridgeport, four grandchildren, Bentley, Benjamin, Dawson, and Caspian, and many cousins whom he loved and had great friendships with.

Fred retired from the US Airways in Management for 30 years. He served in the United States Army in the Charlie Company during the Vietnam War. He served as a Combat Infantryman and Paratrooper and received the Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Combat Infantryman Badge, Vietnam Service Medal, Army Commendation Medal and Good Conduct Medal. Fred was an advocate for all Veterans and considered any Veteran to be his brother. He was very active in the Wounded Warrior Project and showed integrity, commitment, and respect to all Veterans.

Fred was Catholic by faith. He was a member of the VFW and American Legion in Marietta, OH. Fred was a creative writer who loved sports cars and watching Duke Basketball. Fred’s outgoing nature will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

A Military Graveside Service will be held on Friday, December 2, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Grafton, WV with Chaplain Dr. Rob Kauffelt officiating. Full Military Honors will be conducted by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Interment will follow services.
