Obituary for Frederick John Morris Jr.

Frederick John Morris Jr. 86 of Weston WV passed away February 12 2019 at home with family and the guidance of Hospice. Fred was born January 13, 1933, in Keene NH to the late Frederick J. Morris, Sr. and Emma Hodgman Morris. He is survived by his wife Shelley Dion Morris of 28 years. Also surviving are two stepsons: Chris Dion, and James Dion.
He was preceded in death by his first wife, Janis Croteau Morris of Marlborough NH of 36 years and brothers: Kermit Morris and Robert Morris. Fred is survived by a son, Byron R Morris, and daughter Sherri A. Morris. Also surviving are grandchildren, Carrie Chase, Jason Paquette, James, and Jerehmey Morris, and Landen Dion, two great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Fred graduated president of his Marlborough High School class,(NH) in 1949. After which he enlisted in the US Airforce serving in the Korean conflict from 1950 to 1953. Returning to his home state of New Hampshire Fred enjoyed the outdoors and was a member and past president of the New England Family Campers Association for many years. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, enjoy gardening in his family business called Homestead Gardens in Swanzey New Hampshire. Fred was a machinist with Pneumo Precision of Keene New Hampshire for many years.
In 1990 he met and married his second wife Shelley. In 1992 they moved to Weston West Virginia where he enjoyed in his retirement woodworking, clogging, and "Fred's Crafts" where he became known as the Mr. Fix It Man.He also enjoyed vacationing summers at their cottage on Cape Breton Island, Nova Scotia, Canada. He was a member of St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston, serving as a past president of the Board of Trustees, a choir member for many years, and a member of the Men’s Group, and enjoyed helping with the men's annual yard sale.
He was a lifelong member of the American Legion, and member of the Lewis County Senior Citizens Center.
Fred’s wish for cremation has been granted. A Celebration of his Life will be held at St. Matthew United Methodist Church of Weston beginning at 3:00pm on Saturday, February 16, 2019 with Reverend Tim Conrad officiating. Full military honors will be conducted by the United States Air Force and the Lewis County Honor Guard. Fellowship time will be held on Saturday from 2-3 p.m. A fellowship luncheon will follow services in fellowship hall of the church.
