Obituary for Donald Ray Gaines
Donald Ray Gaines, 75 of 27 Mandell Street, Buckhannon WV passed away on Thursday April 9, 2020 in Ruby Memorial Hospital .He was born in Jane Lew, WV on November 13, 1944, the son of the late George and Pauline (James) Gaines. On July 20, 1963 he married Peggy Nicholson Gaines who preceded him in death February 26, 2020.
Donald is survived by 2 daughters: Donna Gaines of Buckhannon and Kathy Feathers and husband Donnie of Good Hope and one son: Donnie Gaines and wife Nina of Buckhannon. He is also survived by 4 grand-children: Tiffany Bunch and husband Derrick, Lindsey Feathers and companion Austin Teter, Ryan Gaines and fiance’ Kelly Weaver, and Todd Gaines and fiance’ April Syrews and 6 great-grandchildren: Kohen and Gracelynn Bunch, Maddelynn Feathers and Blake, Ronan and Dominic Gaines. Also surviving are 3 brothers: Roger Gaines of Weston, Delbert Gaines and wife Donna of Weston and George Gaines and companion Michelle Fallon of Weston. Donald also had 4 surviving sisters: JoAnn Lancaster and husband Delbert of Elkins, Judy Parker of Weston, Janet Taylor and companion George Brown of Lost Creek and Sue Gaines of Issue, MD and several nieces and nephews.
Gaines was a truck driver and dozer operator with Dick Harper Trucking. He truly enjoyed time with his children, grand-children and great-grandchildren. He had 3 dogs Mindy, Sheba and Penny that he really loved. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and watching dirt track racing and even raced when he was younger.
Family will gather Monday, April 13, 2020 for a graveside service with Rev. Russell Furr officiating at Broad Run Church Cemetery of Jane Lew WV at 10am.
