Obituary for Daniel Ray Wright
Daniel Ray Wright, 80, of Weston, WV passed away on Friday, May 15, 2020 in Grafton City Hospital following an extended illness. He was born in Weston on May 15, 1940: son of the late Roscoe Wright and Bonice G. (Jordan) Wright. He was preceded in death by his wife, Gloria Goin.
Mr. Wright is survived by three daughters: Angela, Jennifer and Teresa, one son: Arnold and several grandchildren. He is also survived by five sisters: Shirley Pumphrey of Clarksburg, Marcia Brown of Weston, Brenda Davis of Fairmont, Barbara Sigley of Bridgeport and Vicki Jackson of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by two brothers: Bob and Richard Wright and one sister: Norma Craig.
Mr. Wight worked for Chrysler Corporation in Twinsburg, OH. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in Company C 187th Airborne Battalion 187th Infantry from 1960-1963.Danny was exceptional at woodworking and he built 11 pieces of furniture that are still in use today. He was a jack of all trades. He was a hard worker and believed in doing things the right way.
Danny loved to work puzzles and liked to fish. He was an avid West Virginia University and Kentucky Wildcats fan. He was a fan of horse racing and especially the derbies.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Wednesday, May 20, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Private family services will be held on Wednesday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. Military honors will be conducted by the United States Army. In lieu of flowers donations may be made the Lewis County Humane Society 6388 Pine Grove Road Glenfield, NY 13343 because of Daniel’s love for animals.
