Obituary for Clarence Edward ""Ed"" Curtis

Clarence Edward “Ed” Curtis, 82, of Perry Ables Hollow, Weston passed away on Friday, June 4th 2021 at his home surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Lewis County on September 28, 1938; son of the late Clarence Lee Curtis and Olive Lee (Fisher) Curtis. On June 11th 1960 he married Iva Jane (Ables) Curtis who preceded him in death in October 2011.

Ed is survived by 4 children Dale Curtis, David Curtis, Darrel Curtis and wife Melissa all of Weston and Dorthy Curtis and companion Joseph Hughes also of Weston., 6 grandchildren Kassandra Hughes, Shannon Curtis, Chrystal Ramsburg, Michelle Kittle, Carrie Curtis, and Jossie Curtis, and several great-grandchildren. He is also survived by 4 siblings, Lester Curtis and wife Patty of Roanoke, Thelma Suttles and husband Johnny of Copley, Wilma Riddle of Roanoke, Opal Moon of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife Iva Jane, Ed was preceded in death by one daughter Donna Curtis Goodwin, one brother Junior Curtis, and one sister Effie Stutler.

Mr. Curtis was a mechanic with Weston Transfer for several years. Earlier in his working life, Ed owned and operated Curtis Salvage. Ed loved listening to music, hunting and fishing, and was a Baptist by faith. The most important thing in his life was spending time with his family and he will be missed by them all.

A graveside service for Ed will be held on Tuesday, June 8th 2021 at 1:00pm from the Jacksonville Cemetery of Roanoke with Pastor Mike Riffle officiating. A viewing will be held from 12:30-1:00pm for family and friends who would like to pay their last respects at the cemetery.
