Obituary for Cheryl Lynn Jordan

On Sunday, March 14th, 2021, Cheryl L. Jordan, loving mother of four children, and three grandchildren, passed away at age 74. Cheryl was born on January 18th, 1947 in Confluence, PA to Robert and Leanne Romesburg. She graduated Summa Cum Laude from Davis and Elkins College in 1982 and was her class Valedictorian.

Cheryl not only raised her own young family but provided care for dozens of foster children throughout West Virginia. She was a leader in the 4H Club and worked with other caring citizens in Ellamore, WV in establishing a successful community support center.

Cheryl moved to Florida in the early 1990s to care for her elderly parents. Once there she continued her lifelong commitment to saving children. She became a Case Manager for Children and Family Services in West Palm Beach. When her parents died, she moved back to West Virginia where she enjoyed reuniting with old friends, making new ones, and having her beloved children nearby. Cheryl was extremely hard working, intelligent, independent, and compassionate. Abandoned animals in her neighborhood knew where to go on cold nights for warmth and sustenance. She was also an avid gardener and a voracious reader.

Cheryl was preceded in death by her father, Bob, her mother Leanne, and her son Joshua. She is survived by her three children, Melissa Hawkins of Lake Worth, Fl, John Jordan and Rebecca Jordan Gleason of Weston, and her three grandchildren, Danielle and Miranda Hawkins of West Palm Beach, FL, and Breonna Childress of Weston, as well as many dear friends and pets.

A Memorial Funeral service will be held on Sunday, March 21st, 2021 from Hardman Family Funeral Home at 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV. Guests are invited to gather at 1:00PM. The service will begin at 2:00PM. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Cheryl may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
