Obituary for Charlotte Claudette Byrd

Charlotte Claudette Byrd, 72, of Weston, went to be with her Lord and Savior on Monday, February 15th, 2021 at her residence. She was born in Lewis County on December 26th, 1948 to the late Lash Junior Metz and Ethel Gay (Burkhammer) Metz. Charlotte was united in marriage on April 17th, 1966 to the love of her life, Emery Lee Byrd.

Charlotte is survived by 3 daughters: Mary Kathy Byrd of Weston, Frankie Renee Cutlip and husband Randy of Copley and Traci Butcher and husband Bill Jr. of Copley, 6 grandchildren: Randy Cutlip Jr. and wife Brandi, Emery Cutlip, Rachel Carpenter and husband Bryan, Charles “Charlie” Ray Conrad II and wife Alisha, Katlyn White and Keeane Butcher, 10 great-grandchildren: Meranda Conrad, Jakoby Cutlip, Macada Cutlip, Axol Carpenter, Hila Carpenter, Lucas Skinner, Hadeline Cutlip, Makeelyn Butcher, Bexlee “Becky” Moody and Oaklee Paige Moody, 2 brothers: Sonny Metz and wife Hazel of Weston and Timothy Metz and wife Judy of Weston, 2 sisters: Darlene White of Weston and Mary Stump and husband Bill of Weston along with several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Charlotte was preceded in death by a sister: Nancy Harris and 3 brothers: Tommy Metz and Patrick and Michael Metz, twin brothers who passed away at birth.

Charlotte attended the Haleville Union Mission Church. She was a devoted housewife and mother. Later in life, Charlotte worked in housekeeping at Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital for 6 years. Charlotte had a passion for sewing, especially making quilts, and loved teaching others the art of sewing. She enjoyed being outdoors, gardening and working in her flower beds. Most of all, Charlotte treasured time spent with her family, especially her grandkids. She loved them all dearly.

Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Saturday, February 20th, 2021 from 12:00PM-2:00PM. A private family funeral service will be held at 2:00PM from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Mike Riffle, Pastor Wease Day and Chad Metz officiating.
