Obituary for Charles Ross Hyson

Charles Ross Hyson, 82, of De Leon Springs, FL, formerly of Jane Lew) passed away on Wednesday, April 22, 2020 in Mercy Advent Hospital in Deland, FL following a brief illness. He was born in Harrison County on June 12, 1937: son of the late Clyde Ross Hyson and Edith Estelle (Linger) Hyson.

Mr. Hyson is survived by two daughters: Daisy Susanne Hyson Hunt and husband Robert of Rock Cave and Cathy June Hyson of Weston, two sons: Kenneth Ross Hyson of Weston and Charles Richard Hyson and wife Susie of Inwood, WV and several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his loving longtime companion of 13 years: Anita Cayton. He is also survived by two step children: Robert Henline of Glenville and Glenda Henline of Clarksburg and several; step grandchildren and great-grandchildren. In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by his first wife: Daisy June Murphy Hyson and then by his second wife: Viola Mae Henline Hyson and was also preceded in death by one step son: Roscoe Stephen Henline and one brother: Gary Lynn Hyson.

Mr. Hyson was a glassworker with several local glass factories including West Virginia Glass Specialty Company, Louie Glass Factory and Colonial Glass Factory all of Weston and also at Harvey Industries in Clarksburg. He retired from the Hall Town Paper Mill in Martinsburg, WV. He was a graduate of Lost Creek High School. He attended the Duck Creek Union Mission Church, McWhorter United Methodist Church, Stone Coal United Methodist Church in West Virginia and the Church of God Prophesy in Florida.

Mr. Hyson was a veteran of the United States Army National Guard, member of the Lewis County Honor Guard and the American Legion of Jane Lew, WV. He was also a member of the Lion’s Club of Jane Lew, WV and was active with Meals on Wheels with the Jane Lew Senior Center. Mr. Hyson loved to play country music and was active with several music groups in the area.

Public visitation at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2020 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Due to Covid 19, social distancing and masks or face covering will be required. A private family funeral service will follow at 1:30 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Fred Templeton officiating. Following services, interment will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. United States Army will provide military honors.
