Obituary for Charles Earl Floyd

Charles Earl Floyd, 91, and Alicia Sue Floyd,82, of Weston were reunited in Heaven following complications from Covid. Charlie was born in Clarksburg on November 20, 1930 to the late Ernest Leslie Floyd and Ella Mae (Scott) Floyd. Charlie passed away on February 16, 2022 at home. Alicia Sue was born in Braxton County on August 21, 1939 to the late Richard L. Hurst and Viola Ann (Bragg) Hurst. Alicia Sue passed away on March 7, 2022 in Morgantown, WV.

The Floyd’s were united in marriage on April 27, 1957. Cherishing their memory are two sons: Charles Grayling Floyd and girlfriend: Helen Dunn of Clarksburg and Richard Chester Floyd and girlfriend: Debbie Radcliff of Weston, six loving grandchildren: Ashley Nicole Hefner, Julian Chant Floyd, Graylin Floyd, Ethan Floyd, Ian Floyd and Eli Floyd and five great grandchildren: Julian, Landon, Hunter, Kamaryn, Donovan, Joey, and Dre and one great great grandchild: Hadley.

Mr. Floyd was preceded in death by two siblings, one brother: James Floyd and one sister Lorrain Talkington and is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Mrs. Floyd is survived by one sister: Sheila Ann Hurst Smith of Clarksburg and several nieces and nephews. They were blessed with many friends and neighbors who will miss them.

Charlie was a graduate of Victory High School and graduated from Salem College with a BA degree in Industrial Arts. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force serving as a Master sergeant during the Korean Conflict. He served as an industrial arts teacher in Lewis County Schools with over 40 years of service. He also owned and operated Floyd’s Used Cars. He also enjoyed woodworking. Alicia Sue was a housewife for 65 years. She graduated from Bridgeport High School. She enjoyed sewing and her greatest joy was spending time with her grandchildren.

A joint service in memory of the Floyd’s lives will be held at Hardman Family Funeral Home of Weston on Friday, March 11, 2022 with visitation from 11 a.m. until 12:30 p.m. The memorial service will begin at 12:30 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Mrs. Floyd will be reunited with her husband in the Bridgeport Cemetery where he was buried on February 22, 2022.
