Obituary for Charles App Dyer

Charles App Dyer, 74, of Good Hope, passed away on Tuesday, May 23, 2023 at his home. He was born January 19, 1949, son of the late Floyd Vickers Dyer and Jessie Margaret (Justice) Dyer. Charles was united in marriage on June 8, 1970 to his loving wife, Donna J. (Heckert) Dyer, who will forever cherish their 52 years together.

Charles will forever be remembered by his wife, Donna, 3 children; Kimberly Dyer of Good Hope, Robert Jason Dyer and wife Jennifer of Good Hope, and Regina Babbitt and husband David of Good Hope, 6 grandchildren; Jonathan Prince, Noah Dyer, Joel Babbitt, Caleb Babbitt, Audri Hayes, and Addison Hayes, 3 great grandchildren; Indy Hitt, Ivy Hayes, and Wakem Simon, a brother, Floyd Lee Dyer and wife Jane of Florida, and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by a brother, Eddie Dyer.

After graduating high school, Charles joined the United States Air Force in 1971, serving in the Vietnam War. Charles retired from the United States Postal Service with 35+ years as a letter carrier. He was a member of the Weston Church of God. Charles was an avid gardener, loved tinkering in carpentry, building things, and enjoyed Southern Gospel music. Most of all he cherished time spent with his family and grandkids, who will miss him greatly.

Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston on Saturday, May 27, 2023 from 4-7p.m. The funeral service will be held on Sunday, May 28, 2023 at 1:00 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Ryan Seabolt officiating. Interment will follow services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew with full military honors conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.
