Obituary for Charles Leon Copenhaver

Charles Leon Copenhaver, 89, of W 2nd Street Weston passed away on Friday, January 25, 2019 in Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital of Weston following a brief illness. He was born in Wallace, WV on September 25, 1929: son of the late Charles Copenhaver and Roma (Robison) Dulaney. On December 30, 1983, he married Margaret Ann (Posey) Copenhaver, who survives.
Charles is also survived by two daughters: Linda (Jerry) Gowers of Clarksburg and Sandra Wilson of Fairmont, one son: David Copenhaver of Parkersburg and four grandchildren: Kelly, Brandi, Jeremy and Brian. He is also survived by three step sons: Robert (Rita) Posey of Jane Lew and Jeff (Kim) Posey of Jane Lew and Scott (Debbie) Posey of Weston and one step daughter: Lee Ann Coffield and husbad the late Junie Coffield of Weston , 15 step grandchildren: Seth, Isabella, Marcus, Tyler, Tyke, Tasha, Tiffani, Michael, Makayla, Colby, Kylee, Eddie, Sam, Beth and Cayla and 3 step great grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his companions and friends- his dogs: Buddy and Bubby.In addition to his parents, Charles was preceded in death by one daughter: Debbie Detamore and one infant son.
Mr. Copenhaver retired from Roger’s Plumbing with several years of service. Earlier in his working career, he was a coal miner with Clintsville Coal Company of Dola, WV. He was a member of the Haleville Union Mission Church. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving in the Korean Conflict. Charles collected knives and guns and was also an avid coin collector.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Mike Riffle and Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
