Obituary for Brenda Jean Jones
Brenda Jean Jones, 62, of Bridgeport, WV (formerly of Weston, WV) gained her angel wings on Saturday, November 7th, 2020. She passed away peacefully at her residence surrounded by her loving family. She was born on July 7th, 1958 in Weston, WV to the late Harold Sands and Jean (Blake) Sands. She was united in marriage on July 10th, 1981 to Pastor Roy W. Jones who preceded her in death on August 24th, 2012.
Brenda is survived by son: Kevin L. Smith of Elizabeth City, NC, and daughters: Amanda G. Jones of Bridgeport, WV and Sarah E. Gettings and husband Brandon of Nutterfort, WV. Brenda loved her grandchildren: Nicole and Gavin Jones and Isaac Posey. She is also survived by brothers: Dave Sands and wife Dinnia of Weston, WV and Rick Sands and wife Charlotte of Burnsville, WV, sister: Bonnie Sands Fackler and husband Jeff of Vassar, MI and several nieces and nephews.
Brenda was a 1975 graduate of Lewis County High School. She also attended the Nazarene Bible College in Colorado Springs as a music major. Brenda’s passion was to sing for the Lord and had a professional cassette recording of gospel music made in Huntington, WV. Brenda gave her life to the lord at Valley View Church of Nazarene on rt. 19 where her husband later pastored for several years. She was currently a member of the First Church of Nazarene in Stonewood, WV.
Brenda worked at the Louie Glass Factory of Weston, WV as a glassworker. She was also active with Focus on the Family with Dr. James Dobson in Colorado Springs, CO. Most importantly, she was a devoted wife and selfless mother who loved and cherished her family.
Friends and family will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home at 730 N. Main Avenue Weston, WV on Friday, November 13th, 2020 from 2:00-4:00 PM. A private family service will follow at 4:00 pm from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Richard Settles and Pastor Mike Adams officiating.
