Obituary for Betty Jean Williams

On November 2, 2021, Betty Jean Williams at 81 years young left this world to join the Heavenly Realm. Betty was born on May 12, 1940, her parents, Thomas Scott Williams and Rosa Blanche (Shackleford) Williams preceded her in death. Also preceding her in death were half siblings, Berlin V. Hefner Kerns, Dale C. Hefner, Zelma A. Williams Bates Spohn, and Hayward I. Williams. The remaining full siblings were brothers Burton, Ray A., Otha C., James B., Paul J., John R., and sisters Marie V. Williams Swiger, and Mary J. all preceded Betty, the youngest of the siblings, in death.

Betty was a remarkable hardworking lady, that always provided for her extended family. While her brothers, John and James worked the farm, Mary took care of the ‘household chores.’ Betty worked at Louie Glass Factory, Alkahn Label Factory which later became Paxar Labels for over 28 years ‘making a living for the family outside the home.’ Betty lived her entire life in Linn/Alum Bridge, WV. She was kind and generous to those that surrounded her. She leaves behind many nieces and nephews and great-nieces and great-nephews. Betty is also survived by, as she described on many occasions, ‘her best friend,’ Jock Hinzman. Jock took the time to check on Betty every day. He picked up her mail and brought it to her for years. Jock used that time to visit and put a smile on Betty’s face. Betty will be truly missed by those that loved her. The memories of Betty, her smile, her friendliness and good nature will live on in our hearts.

A Graveside Service will be held at 10AM on Friday, November 5th, 2021 at Hiney Cemetery in Linn, WV with Pastor Bill Hunt officiating. Interment will follow services in the family plot of the cemetery. Online condolences and life stories in memory of Betty may be expressed at hardmanfamilyfuneralhome.com.
