Betty Lou Dean, 91, of Weston, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, February 14, 2023 under the compassionate care of Crestview Nursing Home of Jane Lew. She was born in Lewis County on August 18, 1931, daughter of the late William Thomas Burkhammer and Dona Opal (Cutright) Burkhammer. Betty was united in marriage on July 12, 1954 to Roy E. Dean, who preceded her in death on February 5, 1993.
Cherishing the life of Betty is her son, Robert M. Dean of Weston, son-in-law, Garry Lee Hefner of Weston, daughter-in-law, June Dean of Weston, 4 grandchildren; Anthony Dean (Jodi), Lisa Wilson (Jason), Rebecca Ball (Joseph), and Jessica Hefner, 7 great grandchildren; Lexi Gunnoe, McKenzie Wilson, Braley Wilson, Daelynn Luzader, Camden Luzader, Logan Luzader, and Josiah Ball, 1 brother; Carl Burkhammer (Martha), 2 sisters; JoAnn Burkhammer of Weston and Wilma Springston of Vienna, WV, 1 sister-in-law; Alma Jean Heckert, and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Roy, Betty was preceded in death by 1 daughter; Mary Ann Hefner, 3 sons; David Leroy Dean, Thomas Edward Dean, and Kenneth Dean, 1 brother; Arnett Burkhammer, and 5 sisters; Zona Timms, Elsie Queen, Verda Beachler, Roberta Springston, and Helen Zimple.
Betty was a graduate of Weston High School in 1949. She was a homemaker. Betty was a member of the Bendale United Methodist Church of Weston. Betty loved farming, gardening, planting flowers, and doing yard work. She also enjoyed volunteering at Crestview Nursing Home and playing cards, especially Phase 10, with her sisters. Most of all, Betty loved spending time with her family and her friends from the Jennings Run community and will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston on Saturday, February 18, 2023 from 11AM-1PM. The funeral service will begin at 1PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Russell Furr officiating. Interment will follow services at Lewis County Memorial Gardens of Weston. In lieu of flowers, the family request donations to be made to the Bendale United Methodist Church at 1163 US Hwy 19S Weston, WV 26452.
