Obituary for Betty Jo Burkhammer
Betty Jo Burkhammer, 87, of Weston passed away on Saturday, April 2, 2022 in the comfort of her sister Clara Atchison’s home. Betty Jo was born in Weston on November 20, 1934, daughter of the late Draper Clay “Runt” Strader and Edna Blanche (Shouldis) Strader. Betty Jo was united in marriage on January 10, 1953 to Darrell Floyd Burkhammer, who preceded her in death on June 21, 2011.
Cherishing Betty Jo’s life are her five children Darrell Eugene Burkhammer and wife Kathy of Camden, Edna Sue Daugherty and husband Roger of Pampa, TX, Bill Burkhammer and wife Molly of Weston, David Lynn Burkhammer (deceased) and wife Kathy of Volga, and Timmy Burkhammer and wife Kim of Weston. 13 grandchildren Christy, Stacey, Sherry, Beth, Amanda, Jill, Shawna, Shane, Katrina, Jason, David, Zackory and Logan several great and great great grandchildren, brother Lee Strader (deceased) and wife Kay (deceased), sister Clara Atchison and husband Jack (deceased) of Weston, brother Gary Lynn Strader and wife Phyllis of Weston, brother Elwood Strader and wife Sandy of Weston, sister Shirley Ann Strader (deceased), brother Charles Leslie Strader (deceased) and several nieces and nephews.
Betty Jo was a homemaker. She volunteered at the Lewis County Senior Center, where she loved to play bingo. She was a member of the Lady’s Auxillary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles of Weston and when they closed she became a member in Buckhannon. She was also a member of the Mountaineer State Cloggers. One of her other hobbies was crocheting. Betty Jo’s loving and outgoing nature will be missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will gather at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston on Monday, April 4, 2022 from 12PM-2PM. The funeral service will begin at 2PM from the funeral home chapel with Reverend Mark Evans officiating. Interment will follow services at Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens in Jane Lew, WV.
