Obituary for Avis Dare Linger (Jackson)
Avis Dare Linger, 92, of Weston went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, November 23rd, 2021 in the compassionate care of Crestview Nursing Home of Jane Lew, WV. She was born in Weston, WV on November 18th, 1929: daughter of the late Roscoe Jackson and Alma (Flesher) Jackson. On October 21st, 1950, she married Robert Norris Linger, who preceded her in death on May 19th, 2013.
Cherishing memories of Avis are two children: Roberta Carol Linger of Phoenix, AZ and Daniel Bruce Linger and wife Kathy of Georgetown, TX, 4 grandchildren: Nelda Linger, Preston Ross Linger, Alex Weber and Matthew Weber(Rebekah) and one great grandchild: Cooper James Linger. She is also survived by one sibling: Eldon Jackson and wife Kay of Weston and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Robert and parents, Avis was preceded in death by one grandson: Nicholas Linger and one sister: Joyce Jackson.
Avis started her family life as a stay at home mom but as her children grew up she became head teller at Citizens Bank of Weston with 20+ years of service. She was a graduate of Weston High School with the class of 1948 and attended a business school in Clarksburg. Mrs. Linger was an active member of Broad Run Baptist Church of Jane Lew where she was a deaconess, active in Bible studies and in the Missionary Society of the church, and was the Sunday school superintendent.
Avis’ hobbies included working in her yard and gardening. She had a big heart and gave to many charities. Avis and Bob loved go to WVU football games. She will be missed by family, church family and all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, December 3rd, 2021 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. where funeral services will be at 1 p.m. from the Hardman Family Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Bill Coffindaffer officiating.
