Obituary for Ada Belle Raines (Riley)
Ada Belle Riley Raines, 98, of Camden, went to be with her Lord and Savior, Friday, November 18, 2022 at Genesis Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Glenville, WV. She was born July 6, 1924, in Upshur County, daughter of the late Sherman and Charity Rebecca Riley.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, John F. Raines, a son, William K. Raines, a daughter, Mildred Norman, son in law, Roger Lapeer, two daughter in laws, Beth and Helen Raines, two sister in laws, Niva and Maxine Riley, one brother in law, Walter Anderson, three brothers, Roy, Alfred, and Melvin Riley, four sisters, Jessie Haymond, Bessie Anderson, Thelma Humphrey, and Mary Moore.
Ada is survived by nine children, Anna Epp of Alum Bridge, Mayford (Evelyn) Raines of Jacksonville, FL, Carolyn (Jesus) Acevedo of Orlando, FL, Darlene Lapeer (Jeff) of Lost Creek, James (Brenda) Raines of Clarksburg, John (Kathy) Raines of Shinnston, Charles (Arzetta) Raines of Camden, Andrew (Joyce) Raines of Camden, and Steven Raines of Leavensworth, KS. She is also survived by 34 grandchildren, 46 great grandchildren, several great great grandchildren, a brother, Estel Riley of Buckhannon, WV, several nieces and nephews and great nieces and nephews.
Ada was a Methodist by faith. She was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, and homemaker. Ada enjoyed spending time with her family, reading her Bible, cooking, crocheting, embroidery, quilting, and flower and vegetable gardening. She worked hard to care for her family. Ada canned many half gallon and quarts of fruit and vegetables every summer and fall, in addition to all the other household chores. Up until 1982, Ada milked cows and made her own butter, cottage cheese and buttermilk. Ada will be miss by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends will be received at Hardman Family Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue of Weston, on Sunday, November 20, 2022 from 4-7pm. The funeral service will be held on Monday, November 21, 2022 at 10AM from the funeral home chapel with Pastor Wease Day officiating.
