Obituary for Lenna ""Jean"" Sands (Blake)

Lenna “Jean” Sands, 86, of Weston, West Virginia, died early Sunday morning, July 29, 2018 at Covenant HealthCare, Harrison Campus in Saginaw, Michigan. She was born March 2, 1932 in Weston WV; daughter of the late Vincent and Clara Myrtle (Posey) Blake. Jean was a life-long resident of Weston before moving to Vassar, MI to make her home with her daughter and son-in-law, Bonnie and Jeff Fackler in June of this year. She was employed as a cook in various restaurants in the Weston area most of her life, and was a faithful member of the Valley View Church of the Nazarene in Jane Lew WV, where she played the piano at services. Jean was a self-sufficient woman, always taking care of her own needs, but also reached out to friends and family to help them in their time of need. Her favorite enjoyment was cooking especially for friends and family. Her talents and hobbies were writing poetry, crossword puzzles, playing piano and drawing. Her poetry was especially inspired by her faith in God.

Jean is survived by her two sons and two daughters and their spouses; David and Diane Sands of Weston, WV; Rick and Charlotte Sands of Burnsville, WV; Brenda Jones of Bridgeport, WV; and Bonnie and Jeff Fackler of Vassar, MI; thirteen grandchildren; many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Jean was predeceased by her husband of twenty-five years, Gordon Sands in 1989, two brothers, Virgil and Jim Blake, and two sisters, Reva Myers and Ina Skinner.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, August 2, 2018 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home with Pastor Jerry Cunningham officiating.
