Obituary for Garnet Elizabeth Ryder

Garnet Elizabeth Ryder, 81, of Weston went home to be with her Lord on Tuesday, May 29, 2018 in United Hospital Center of Bridgeport following an extended illness. She born in Harrison County on May 9, 1937: daughter of the late Carl M. Beckner and Ada Ruth (Bond) Beckner. Garnet first married Bernard R. McKeown, who preceded her in death and then married Richard M. Ryder, who also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Ryder is survived by one son: Joseph William McKeown of Elkins, two step daughters: Sharon Ryder Schank of Jamestown, NY and Tammy Ryder of Buffalo, NY and one step son: Mark Ryder of Buffalo, NY. She is also survived by one sister: Helen Ruth Lesher of Seattle, WA and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by good friends: Amanda Howell and son: Dalton of Elkins. In addition to her parents and two husbands, Garnet was preceded in death by three sisters: Lortha Molisee, Rosemary Jackson and Geneva Duncan.
Mrs. Ryder was a glassworker with Colonial Glass Factory of Weston. She later worked at Hardeeā€™s and was a Lewis County Senior Companion. She was a graduate of Lost Creek High School with the Class of 1956. She was a member of Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston. Garnet loved to work on crafts, sew, crochet and knit. Garnet was a long time member of the Gee Lick CEOS Club. She was a Belle at the Glenville Folk Festival.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Sunday, June 3, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Monday, June 4, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Richard Justice officiating.
