Obituary for Shirley Ann Nicholson (McQuain)

Shirley Ann Nicholson, 81, of Weston passed away on Monday, December 17, 2018 in Crestview Nursing Home of Jane Lew following an extended illness. She was born in Sago, WV on July 13, 1937: daughter of the late Perry McQuain and Beatrice (Metzgar) McQuain. On December 31, 1955, she married John Robert Nicholson, Jr., who survives.
Mrs. Nicholson is also survived by one daughter: Roberta Ann Pantalone of Weston, one son: John Robert Nicholson, III and wife Charmaine of Marietta, GA, seven grandchildren: Amy Pantalone, Ashley D’Agostino, Jennifer Ortman, Angela Tufty, Brian C. Nicholson, Alia Nicholson and Zane Nicholson and four great great grandchildren: Aiden Nicholson, Logan and Lauren Tufty and Jacob Ortman. She is also survived by one brother: Harry McQuain of Martinsburg, one sister: Nellie Wilson of Weston, two ½ brothers: Edward and Scott Elbon, three ½ sisters: Betty Robertson, Wanda Harris, and Freda Lincoln and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Shirley was preceded in death by two sons: Brian Keith Nicholson and David Lynn Nicholson, four brothers: Harold, Herbert, Russell and Buck McQuain, two sisters: Margaret Brady and Opal Hupfield and one ½ brother: Larry Elbon.
Mrs. Nicholson was a homemaker. She was a member of the Broad Street United Methodist Church of Weston. She was a volunteer at Orange Nursing Home from 1979-1984, a volunteer homeroom school aide and a volunteer mother assistant with baseball. Shirley was a loving mother and grandmother and was active with the grandkids and great grandkids functions.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, December 20, 2018 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Brian Plum officiating.
