Obituary for Richard Dennis "Denny" Lewis

Richard Dennis “Denny” Lewis, 83, of Edgewood Drive Weston passed away peacefully surrounded by his children on Tuesday, December 18, 2018 at his residence following an extended illness. He was born in Buckhannon on October 21, 1935: son of the late Richard “Dick” Lewis and Creola (Mullenix) Lewis. On June 17, 2000, he married Ellen M. (McLaughlin) Lewis, who survives. In addition to his parents, Denny was preceded in death by his first wife, Susie (Lamb) Lewis, one granddaughter: Karina Calvert, two brothers: Gary L. and Mike K. Lewis, one sister-in-law: Barbara June Stanczak, and one step son: Wayne L. “Jay” Walker.

Mr. Lewis is also survived by two daughters: Christy D. Woods and husband Erik of Kingwood, TX and Nina R. Calvert and husband Steve of Morgantown, one son: Denny T. Lewis of Weston and four grandchildren: Alena Calvert, Alivia Calvert, Anthony Calvert and Ian Calvert. He is also survived by two step daughters: Leslie Godfrey and husband Robey and Lisa K. Williams and husband Jim, one brother-in-law: John Lamb, several nieces and nephews and several step grandchildren.

Mr. Lewis was a skilled brick mason with Local #15 since 1954. He was a master at his profession and left his artistic mark on many homes and buildings in the area. He was a graduate of Weston High School class of 1954. He and his wife were long time members of the Long Run Baptist Church in Braxton County. He was active with the WV Army National Guards for several years. His hobbies included fishing and golfing in his younger years and as he got older he enjoyed spending time with grandchildren, friends and his dog and companion: Sammy. Denny was a loving father, brother and husband and will be missed by all who knew him.

Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Robey Godfrey officiating assisted by Pastor Charlie Barrett. Interment will follow services in the Rock Grove Cemetery of Linn, WV. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Army and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
