Obituary for Jocephus Eakin John

Jocephus Eakin John, 84, of Weston passed away on Monday, October 29, 2018 in the West Virginia Veteran’s Nursing Facility of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Weston on March 14, 1934: son of the late Harvey John and Mary (Blackburn) John. On October 11, 1954, he married Shirley Ann (Crowl) John, who preceded him in death on November 18, 2011.
Mr. John had four children: Elizabeth Blankenship and husband Brian of Weston, Michael Patton John of North Pole, AK, Harvey B. John of Weston and Jocephus Alfred John (Deceased), 10 grandchildren: Alex Cayton, Tim John, Christa Hendricks, Karen John, Michael John, Christopher John, Amy Posey, Rusty John, Abigail Thompson and Todd John (deceased) and several great grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents and wife Shirley, Joe was the last survivor of his immediate family and preceeded in death by 6 brothers: Dick, Jack, Karl, Bill, Paul and Bob John and 3 sisters: Mildred Smith, Betty Young and Helen McCutcheon.
Mr. John worked several years as a coal miner in the coal fields of West Virginia and later retired from Pittsburgh Tube of Jane Lew, WV. He and his wife Shirley enjoyed fishing and boating and he loved to play cards.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston for a Celebration of Life Service for Joe on Monday, November 12, 2018 at 2 p.m. from the funeral home chapel with Pastor David Coe officiating. Interment will follow services in Forest Lawn Memorial Gardens of Jane Lew, WV. Full military honors will be provided by the United States Marine Corp and the Lewis County Honor Guard.
