Obituary for Monica Dale Hefner (Griffith)

Monica Dale Hefner, 82, of Weston, passed away on Thursday, August 8, 2019, at Crestview Manor Nursing Home in Jane Lew, following an extended illness. She was born in Hammond, WV on January 10, 1937; daughter of the late Ernest Dana Griffith and Edith (Shaffer) Griffith. On December 1, 1954, she married Claude Kenneth Marsh, who preceded her in death on August 31, 1982. She later married Robert Lyle Hefner, who is also deceased.
Monica was preceded in death by two sons: Kenneth Michael Marsh, and Douglas Bruce Marsh and his wife Linda Marsh; one brother, Don Griffith; and a sister, Lula Belle Immel.
Monica is survived by two daughters: Nancy Marsh Stalnaker and husband Forrest of Wise, VA; Janet Marsh McGuire of Columbus, OH; two sons: Tom Marsh and wife Kathy of Weston; Edward Marsh and wife Laurie of Brookston, IN; and daughter-in-law, Robin Morris (Mike) Marsh of Buckhannon; a brother, John (Joyce) Griffith of Buckhannon; sisters: Linda (Ted) Riley of Florida; Joyce (Larry) Jarrett of McWhorter; Dee Dee (Frank) Fisher of Arizona, Vicki (Roger) Oberlander of Ohio, and Donna (Terry) Cogar of Weston and several nieces and nephews.
Her surviving grandchildren include: Sara Stalnaker (Ryan) Hardin, Nate (Dera) Stalnaker, Tyler (Jackie) Schenck, Kyle Marsh, Wesley (Lindsay) Marsh, Joshua (Whitney) Marsh, Kendra Marsh (Joel) Grindle, Emily Marsh (Harley) Himes, Lindsey Marsh, Seth (Lisa) Lykins, Keith (Michelle) Lykins, and Chris (Melissa) Lykins.
Monica had 17 great-grandchildren: Jakeb, Zada, and Lily Hardin; Gavin, Tucker, and Hendrix Marsh; Austin Himes, Emilia "Emmy" Marsh, Chloe and Ayden Lykins, Rochelle Lykins, Grace and Penelope Lykins and one-month old Keller Grindle and Averie, Mayleigh and Cannon Stalnaker.
Monica was a homemaker, and was known for her graham cracker pies, homemade pepperoni rolls, and peanut butter fudge! She was a life-long sports fan, and loved to read before her illness took those pleasures away. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Per Monica's wishes, she will be cremated, and a Celebration of Life Service will be held on Saturday, August 10, 2019, at 6:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home, 730 N. Main Avenue, Weston, WV with the Reverend Elizabeth Jarrett officiating.
