Obituary for Pauline Hope Conrad (Davis)
Pauline Hope (Davis) Conrad, 90, who was a long time resident of Broad Street in Weston passed away on December 21, 2018 in Hospice Care in Smyrna. TN. She was born in Weston on April 2, 1928, the daughter of the late Cecil and Effie Davis. On January 27, 1951, she married Gerald Conrad who preceded her in death in 2016.
Pauline was the mother of three children: Karen Conrad of Smyrna, TN and Tim Conrad and wife Dorcas both of Weston and Dennis Robert Conrad, who preceded her in death at the age of 3 years old. She is also survived by three grandchildren: Justin (Kim) Van Horn, Ian Timothy Conrad and Gretchen (Bobby) Brown and two great grandchildren: Gabriel and Alexander Van Horn. Also surviving are two sisters: Loraine Stalnaker of Fairmont, WV and Patty Suttle of Buckhannon, WV, a brother: Bob Davis of Friendly, WV and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by one sister: Marian Davis of Jacksonville, FL and one brother: Leonard (Jack) Davis of Norton, WV.
Mrs. Conrad was retired from the United National Bank (formerly Weston National Bank) where she worked before her marriage and after returning to Weston at Gerald’s retirement from the US Navy. She trained many people while working at the bank, one of whom was Bill Root who would later go on to become bank president. He never forgot it and neither did she.
Pauline was an avid artisan being very proficient at quilting, sewing of clothes, acrylic painting, cake decorating, knitting, and crocheting, as well as being a great cook. In years gone by she would even sing at weddings. She loved camping, and together Gerald and Pauline camped at the Middle Fork Resort Camp Ground for over thirty years. She loved her family and looked forward to holiday gatherings. She especially enjoyed visits with her sisters and brother in recent years. She grew up in Broad Street EUB Church where she sang in the choir and served in the church.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Friday, December 28, 2018 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with her son Reverend Tim Conrad officiating.
