Obituary for Velma Gay Davisson (Riffle)

Velma Gay Davisson, 77, of Weston passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018 at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Hospital. She was born in Weston on May 6, 1940: daughter of the late Ezekiel Harry Riffle and Laura Virginia (Curtis) Riffle, she married Harvey Lee Davisson on December 31, 1963 and who passed away on December 9, 2014.
She is survived by three daughters: Trish Lowther & Kenny, Sandra Goldsmith & Dave and Betty Pumphrey & Roger Allen all of Weston, four sons: Mike Davisson of Weston, Harvey (June) Davisson & Doris of Walkersville, Billy Davisson & companion Emma of Weston and Michael Davisson & Lori of Weston, eleven grandchildren: Marsha Davisson, Josh Davisson, Amber Davisson, Brittany Davisson, Chris Davisson, Laura Gordon, Brad Goldsmith, Dinhia Lowther, Tyler Davisson, Brandon Davisson and Shelbi Davisson, ten great grandchildren: Bryson O’Meara, Wyatt Davisson, Aleah Lorentz, Hunter Davisson, Bronson Marple, Riley Davisson, Broady Davisson, Bristol Coberly, Ruchelle Shackleford and Isabella Myers four brothers: John Riffle & Kim of Weston, Delmus Riffle & Pat of Milwaukee, WI, Arnett Riffle & Evelyn of Walkersville and Joe Riffle & Linda of Roanoke, and one sister Deb Jones & Chris of McClure, OH, a very special neighbor Rusty Wilfong, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great great nieces and nephews. In addition to her husband, Velma wes predeceased by daughter-in-law: Shelly Davisson, two brothers: Russell and Tom Riffle and one sister: Evelyn Seal Riffle.
Velma was a nurse at the old Weston Hospital. She was a Methodist by faith. She loved growing all varieties of flowers around the house and yard. Playing the Lottery and watching her grandchildren Go Cart race. Her greatest joy though was being a wife, mom, grandmother and great grandmother.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Tuesday, April 24, 2017 from 3-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday at 11 a.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Reverend Dwayne Brown officiating.
