Obituary for John D. Villers

John D. Villers, 88, of Glenville passed away on Monday, July 31, 2017 in the Veteran’s Nursing Facility of Clarksburg following an extended illness. He was born in Dusk Camp on June 14, 1929: son of the late Guy C. Villers and Sadie (Carroll) Villers. On September 4, 1954, he married Donzella (Duckworth) Villers, who survives.
Mr. Villers is also survived by two daughters: Becky (Neal) Sprouse of Normantown and Martha Clutter of Glenville, one son: Mark Villers of Cedarville, five grandchildren: Mitchell and Molly Hicks, Billy and Brian Sprouse and Betsy Villers and four great grandchildren: Sawyer, Slader and Sloane Sprouse and Taylor Sprouse. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by three brothers: Charles, Leon and Jack Villers and one sister: Nora Lee Jamison.
Mr. Villers was a clerk and meat cutter with the A. & P. Tea Company and a glassworker with the West Virginia Glass Specialty Company of Weston. He was also a paper carrier for the Parkersburg Newspaper. John was a graduate of Weston High School in 1948. He was a veteran of the United States Army serving during the Korean Conflict in Panama and was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Family and friends will be received at the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home 730 N. Main Avenue Weston on Thursday, August 3, 2017 from 4-7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 p.m. from the Hardman-Paletti Funeral Home chapel with Pastor Billy Hunt officiating.
